Turn a Raspberry Pi 4 into a compact cloud gaming box. Boosteroid comes as a ready-to-flash image: write it to a microSD card or a USB flash drive, connect it to your Raspberry Pi, and the device boots straight into the Boosteroid client.
Requirements
Raspberry Pi 4 with 2 GB of RAM or more
A microSD card or a USB flash drive for the Boosteroid image
A TV or monitor connected via HDMI
An internet connection over Wi-Fi or Ethernet
A gamepad (recommended) or a keyboard and mouse
Getting started
Download the Boosteroid image for Raspberry Pi from the Downloads page.
Flash the image to a microSD card or a USB flash drive using an imaging tool such as Raspberry Pi Imager or balenaEtcher.
Insert the card or the flash drive into your Raspberry Pi, connect it to your TV or monitor, and power it on. The Boosteroid client starts automatically.
Connect to Wi-Fi and pair your Bluetooth devices right in the app, if needed.
Log in by scanning the QR code on the screen with your phone.
What you can do
Stream quality
Video is decoded in hardware, so games run smoothly on the Raspberry Pi. You can choose the stream resolution:
Auto: the client picks the resolution for you
HD (720p)
Full HD (1080p)
The maximum stream resolution on Raspberry Pi is Full HD (1080p).
Gamepads
Bluetooth and USB gamepads are supported, including Xbox controllers.
The whole interface can be controlled with a gamepad, so you don't need a keyboard or mouse on your couch.
Sound and microphone
Sound works over HDMI, the 3.5 mm jack, USB headsets and Bluetooth headsets.
A microphone works on USB and Bluetooth headsets, so you can use voice chat in games.
Network and Bluetooth
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are set up directly in the client. You don't need to use any other system settings.
Updates
The client updates automatically. After each update, you'll see a "What's new" summary of the changes.
Known issues
Black screen at launch. When the client starts, the screen may stay black for up to a minute. If this happens, just wait and the client will load. You don't need to restart the device.
If the black screen lasts longer than a minute or you run into any other problem, contact our support team.
