Linking your Steam and Xbox accounts can unlock additional benefits in Microsoft games. As for Age of Empires IV, you can unlock Insider Rewards (when available).
If you do not already have an Xbox account, you can check this article for additional instructions. Please follow these steps to link it to your Steam account:
Click your portrait icon in the lower-left corner of the main menu;
Click Link Xbox Network Profile at the bottom of the menu that opens;
The game will be minimized (in case the Fullscreen mode was enabled) and our browser will open in the session. Please follow the prompts to sign in;
After signing into your Xbox account, you should see such a message (or a similar one) in the Steam launcher;
After linking your Xbox and Steam accounts, you'll see this message;
After that, you can reopen the game in your session via our custom system tray. You can find an instruction on how to use it via this link;
Once the game is opened, you should see a new button "Unlink Xbox Network Profile". If that's the case, then you have successfully linked your Xbox and Steam accounts.
Note: if the game doesn't respond to your commands after you reopened it and a new button didn't appear, try pressing the Shift+Tab combination.
