When launching Quake 4, you may be blocked by this error: “Quake 4 CD Key is in use. The CD Key you entered is missing or incomplete. The CD Key is located on your CD jewel case.” If this occurs, hit “Cancel” to exit the game, and then wait at least 5 minutes before launching the game again.
